In 2019, we're leaving the tragic biracial narrative behind. COLOR THEORY is a lyrical essay about one story of the impact of color on a person's life, in ways both social, societal, and sensory. With a combination of poetic narration and visual and musical interludes, COLOR THEORY creates a space where we can interrogate how color both brings people together and breaks people apart. In engaging with narratives of family history, trauma, and social justice movements, COLOR THEORY aims to ultimately uplift the complexities and chaos implicit to the lives of people of color.
Text and visual curation by Hassan Ghanny @diaspora.gothic. Musical accompaniment by Ava Sophia @avasophiamusic. Featuring covers of songs by Janelle Monáe, Ibeyi, City High, Seinabo Sey, and more.
